How it Started.
A Unique Problem with a Novel Solution
A true innovator is someone who introduces change and new ideas and who is not afraid to try something that has never been done before. James Burke, our CEO, founder, and visionary saw a problem, identified a niche, and sought action to provide a solution.

Barreleye’s story has humble and surprisingly unglamorous beginnings with one of many visits to a remote frac site and the c-ring that lay on the site. This water containment system, or giant swimming pool, housed the water that was needed for the operations. This complex system consisted of multiple water tanks, an onsite water recycler, and a maze of hoses that slithered through half the site resembling an entanglement of snakes! If you followed the web of hoses, you found more offsite c-rings and a river which fed the entire operation with fresh water. The sheer size of this complicated system was utterly overwhelming, the significant volume of freshwater being pumped was staggering, and the substantial cost of the whole system was, if anything, extreme.
Many questions began to arise.
How can this logistical nightmare be optimized? - Instead of using freshwater, what alternative sources can we utilize? - And - Is there a better way?
With these questions, Barreleye was born. A team of experts came together and began analyzing the entire lifecycle of water in the upstream energy industry from North America to The Middle East and created a solution to optimize this journey.

There is still work to be done and many questions that require further analysis today. Many factors play a part in this complex model from changing regulatory requirements, diverse global geography, and varying proximity to water sources, sinks and existing operations.
